Since 1986, Derek Walker Youngs has devoted much of his time to walking as a Peace Pilgrim. During that time he has walked over 24,000km in twenty-three countries.
In autumn of 2006, Derek's wife was diagnosed with cancer. At this time, he embarked with her on a journey of a different kind—a healing journey. So that he may devote his time to her, there are no walks or pilgrimages currently scheduled. To read more about this, please click the following link: www.lindaderek.com
If you would like information about the Camino, if you have or need information on peacewalking or walking in general, I would be most happy to correspond with you. It is my aim to keep the Peace Walker Society an active resource while Derek is away. Please use the Contact page to send me a message.

Buy1GIVE1Free is one of those ‘take-your-breath-away' ideas; when you ‘get' it you realise in a heartbeat how profound it is:
A hungry child gets fed just because you and your friends dined out. Someone who's cataract-blind gets the gift of sight just because someone else bought a plasma TV. Automatically.
And there's much, much more. It's real and it's happening right around the world, right now. Automatically. Every second, every day, every way.
Thank you so much ... They are beautiful, and will, I'm sure, serve as a source of strength and inspiration as I prepare for my own Camino experience. -M.R. Garcia
(They) are truly beautiful. I know the folks I give them to will really enjoy them as they remember their own pilgrim path. -D. Carley

"We are all pilgrims, each on their own path, each with their own story to tell. Walking is only a first step, but one we each can take to discover the peace within. In that way, eventually, war will become unconscionable. Darkness will be dispelled with light--one person, one step at a time." - Brandon Wilson, from Along the Templar Trail: Seven Million Steps for Peace

Thank you for your interest in the Peace Walker Society. We are a small group of peace makers funded exclusively by our members and supporters — no corporate sponsors, no advertising, no hidden agendas. With our network of volunteers, we are proud of what we have accomplished.
The Peace Walker Society is a group of concerned, committed citizens who recognize that Peace is a process, an exquisite journey of enriching our lives and giving back to the planet we live on.
For the Peace Walker Society there will be no destination only a journey, a journey to promote unity and reconciliation, which transcends the conflict of the past. Along the way we hope to discover and rediscover the true self, for in order to change the world we must begin with ourselves.
