Peaceful Steps is a journey to create a culture of peace based on the principals of love, compassion, and nonviolence. With the increasing awareness of the violence towards humanity and the earth it is easy to let our anger, fear, and blame dominate our thoughts and actions.
On the second anniversary of the US invasion of Iraq, Alaskan Jack Sibbald embarked on Peaceful Steps, a peace pilgrimage across America. He and his dog Birch left from the World Trade Center on Sunday, March 20 and will walk to Deer Park Monastery in Escondido California. Deer Park Monastery is one of Thich Nhat Hanh's meditation centers where Jack spent two weeks during a retreat with Thich Nhat Hanh and his sangha last winter, which greatly influenced his ideas on working for Peace.
